Objectives

 The primary objective of offering financial assistance in S.D.Mahila Mahavidyalaya Narwana is to ensure equitable access to education for all female students, regardless of their socio-economic background. This practice aims to reduce financial barriers that may hinder academic progression and to promote a culture of inclusivity and support within the educational environment.

 Context

 In the contemporary educational landscape, economic disparities continue to pose significant challenges to students' access to quality education. Women-aided colleges, often situated in areas with diverse socio - economic demographics, recognize the urgent need to address these inequities. By implementing robust financial aid programs, S.D.Mahila Mahavidyalya not only alleviates the financial burden on students and their families but also enhances the overall academic experience and well-being of their students.

 Practice

 1.Management Fund:

Since the inception of this college, the management proactively supports students from humble backgrounds. The Management helps the needy students through its fund.

2.Student Welfare committee:

 A student Welfare committee helps underprivileged students belonging to various reserve categories, economically weaker sections,  participants of the inter college, state, & national level competitions in co-curricular and extracurricular activities. The committee helps the students to avail different types of state and central government scholarships.

3.Funds Concession Committee:

A duly Constituted committee of faculty members  finalizes the list of eligible students for the aid after due verification of the documentary evidence and strictly following the guidelines.

4. Emergency Funds:

An emergency fund Arthsetu is designed to provide immediate financial relief to students facing unforeseen circumstances such as medical emergencies, family crises, or sudden financial downturns.

5.Financial Literacy Workshops:

 Workshops covering budgeting, saving, managing student loans, and understanding financial aid packages are regularly organized.

  • The success of the financial aid program is evident in the increased enrollment  from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
  •  The dropout rate has decreased, indicating that financial assistance plays a critical role in helping students continue their education.

  • Alumni who had received financial support during and have gone on to successful careers, attribute  their achievements to the opportunities afforded by the college’s financial aid initiatives.

Problems

  • One major issue is the limitation of funds. As the number of applicants increases, the available financial resources are stretched thin.
  • The lack of awareness and understanding of available financial aid options among the students and their families presents a significant challenge.
  • Administrative challenges also arise in the form of managing and disbursing funds efficiently.
  • The societal attitudes towards women's education in semi-rural areas, though gradually evolving, still pose an impediment.

Other Information

To sustain and enhance the financial aid program, the college actively seeks partnerships with alumni, local businesses, and philanthropic organizations. Regular fundraising events and community outreach programs are organized to bolster the financial aid fund.  Objectives of the Practice:

Environmental initiatives are established procedures designed for solving environmental issues. The primary objectives of our environmental initiatives are to foster an eco-friendly campus, significantly reduce our carbon footprint, and instill sustainable practices among students and staff. By integrating environmental education into our curriculum and daily activities, we aim to develop a community deeply committed to environmental conservation.

Context:

In the face of escalating environmental challenges, Organizations, including governments, have been adopting different environmental initiatives to attain sustainable development . S.D. Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Narwana is situated in a region that experiences significant environmental stress, including water scarcity and pollution. Our initiatives are designed to mitigate environmental impact, promote biodiversity, and foster a culture of sustainability.

 Practice:

  • Tree Plantation Drives:  Regular tree plantation drives involving students, faculty, and the local community focus on planting indigenous species that support local biodiversity and improve air quality.
  • Habit of Gifting Plants: Instead of traditional gifts, potted live plants are given, symbolizing growth and environmental care.
  • Plastic Mukt Bharat Abhiyan:  To eliminate single-use  plastics and to become a plastic-free campus, we have banned the use of single-use plastics. We encourage  reusable containers and bags.
  • Energy Conservation: Solar panels, Energy-efficient LED and solar lights have been implemented to minimize energy wastage. We conduct regular energy audits to optimize our energy consumption.
  • Water Management: Rainwater harvesting systems have been established to capture and recharge groundwater. This helps conserve water and mitigate the effects of water scarcity in the region.
  • Waste Management: Our zero-waste policy emphasizes recycling and responsible waste disposal. We segregate biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste meticulously and compost organic waste on-site to produce nutrient-rich manure for our gardens.

  • Green Campus: The campus now boasts lush greenery and a thriving herbal garden, enhancing biodiversity and providing a serene environment.
  • Plantation by Guests: Our eminent guests also plant saplings in our campus and take the spirit of environmental initiatives.

  • Water Conservation: Effective rainwater harvesting has improved water availability and usage efficiency, even during dry seasons.

Problems Encountered:

  • Initial Investment: High initial costs for sustainable infrastructure, such as solar panels and rainwater harvesting systems, posed financial challenges.
  • Behavioral Change: Changing long-standing habits and attitudes towards sustainability among students and staff required persistent efforts and educational initiatives.
  • Maintenance: Maintaining green spaces and sustainable systems demands continuous effort, resources, and commitment, which is challenging.
